Sustainable Farming Is The Future Of the Agriculture Sector

single

Farming is an indispensable part of life on the earth, and making it sustainable is becoming more critical. There are proven methods to make farming a sustainable process along with advancement. JCBL Agri implements are establishing a technologically advanced sector along with sustainability

Sustainable farming, also known as sustainable agriculture, refers to farming practices that take into account ecological cycles. It is also sensitive to microorganisms and their interactions with the rest of the environment. Sustainable farming promotes economically viable, environmentally sound methods and protects public health.

It focuses on the economic aspects of farming and the clever and effective use of non-renewable resources. This contributes to the growth of nutritious and healthy food while raising the farmer's standard of living.

Why And How To Achieve Sustainable Farming?

There are a lot of farming practices that harm the environment in many ways. Burning crop residue and using chemical fertilizers are to name a few. These farming practices must be stopped to make agriculture sustainable and good for the environment. Keeping this in mind, there are some solutions developed as follows:

Advanced Agricultural Implements

Many different pieces of agricultural equipment are used in modern farming operations. Agricultural implements are used in agricultural processes to reduce the need for human labor and increase field crop yield.

  • Rotary Tiller

Preparing the perfect seedbed is a necessity, but making a seedbed with organic methods that are cost-effective, too, is hard. But a rotary tiller, also known as a rotavator, is the best solution. It saves time and fuel as well as maintains the moisture in the soil in a perfect way. It can pulverize the soil up to 8 inches and keeps track of soil porosity, leading to proper aeration and better crop growth.

  • Super Seeder

The tractor-operated Super Seeder is the Ultimate One Pass Sowing Solution Machine that removes paddy stubbles, mixes them with soil, prepares the field, and simultaneously sows seeds.

Zero Use Of Chemical Fertilizers

For higher crop yield, farmers use chemical fertilizers, which can be harmful to the soil and the crop, so we need to stop using them. Plough crop residue is the method to achieve this. The primary goal of plough crop residue is to increase soil organic matter. Ploughing at a depth of 20-30 cm, combined with nitrogen fertilizer application, enriches the soil with humus and prevents nitrogen depression. This method helps soil in better absorption of recycled nutrients and rainwater.

No-till Management

Farmers primarily use modern farming techniques like no-till. The method is based on sowing new crops directly into the tilled soil while leaving the crop residue on the field. Different techniques, such as cover crops, fertilization, and pesticides, are needed in no-till farming to preserve higher yields and improve soil quality. No-till seeding necessitates specialized equipment, such as discs (low disturbance) or narrow tine colters (high disturbance), to open a narrow slot into the residue-covered soil just wide enough to plant the seeds and cover them with dirt. The goal is to move as little soil as possible to avoid disturbing weed seeds and encourage their development. There is no extra soil tillage activity. Previous crop residues will act as mulch on the soil's surface, remaining virtually undisturbed.

Role Of Crop Residue

Crop residue refers to crop materials such as stems, leaves, and roots that are left on the field after harvesting. Farmers used to regard crop residue as trash, which was usually burned. Crop residue management can be divided into two approaches. The first method is pre-planting tillage, which involves incorporating plant residues into the soil. Another modern practice is no-till farming, in which crop residues are left on the surface, and planting is done without soil tillage.

Conclusion

Sustainable agriculture is what the farmers need in this technologically advanced world. Making farming a sustainable sector is easy with slight changes in farming practices and the advancement of agricultural implements. JCBL provides agricultural implements that are super beneficial in achieving sustainable farming.
